Jasper National Park Centennial - Guided 5 Day Backpacking Trip Enjoy a once in a lifetime guided outdoor hiking adventure! This highly recommended Jasper adventure will provide a scenic, helicopter assisted, guided hiking adventure through historic Whirlpool Valley and Athabasca Pass in Jasper National Park.
Historical Significance of this fantastic Jasper Hike:
The epic explorer, David Thompson, pioneered this mountain passage nearly two centuries ago as a way over the continental divide for the expanding fur trade. This trade route is full of legend and mystery. It was believed to be the haunt of the legendary woolly mammoth as well as other beasts of lore. This hiking pass was mistakenly thought to be flanked by the two highest peaks in North America for nearly 100 years; Mounts Hooker and Brown, causing much frustration for the various explores who attempted to find and climb them. Today, this hiking route is not nearly as dangerous as it once was, but it still brings about nostalgic feelings when hiking its many fur trade ruins and signs of its' incredible past.
